Coaching

Professional.
Top to bottom.

Our Director of Coaching is a former professional player and Long Island Rough Riders head coach — and every coach on staff is a coaching professional with real experience and qualifications.

Flavio FerriDirector of Coaching

A former pro and Long Island Rough Riders head coach leads a staff of coaching professionals — plus a dedicated coach-educator who raises the standard every week. It runs from a Munchkin’s first session to an MLS NEXT matchday.

How we coach

One model,
every team.

The same framework governs a U8 session and an MLS NEXT matchday. Coaches speak one language; players hear it for twelve years.

01

Four Corners

Technical · Game intelligence · Mental · Physical. Every player is developed — and assessed — across all four, with development language always: what a player is building, never a grade.

02

Four Moments

Attacking · Transition to defending · Defending · Transition to attacking. Sessions are built around the moments of the real game, not isolated drills.

03

The training week

Periodized by match day — endurance early in the week, resistance mid-week, sprint and tactical the day before — so players arrive at the weekend ready.

04

Coach education

A dedicated coach-educator, licensed staff and the club’s Coaching University keep the standard rising across 36 teams.

Structure

Zones, not silos.

The boys program is organized in zones. Zone 1 covers U7–U12 — the foundation and skill-acquisition years in 4v4, 7v7 and 9v9. Zone 2 covers U13–U19 and the MLS NEXT Academy Division. A 9v9 lead and a coach-educator sit across both, so the handoff from small-sided to full-sided football is planned, not accidental.

Each age group runs a Top Team (MLS NEXT at U13+), a second team, and third and fourth teams where numbers allow. Every one is coached by a professional on the same model.
