Where a player starts depends on age. Where they finish depends on them. Every stage is coached to the same standard, and every stage leads to the next.
Munchkins
Ages 3–5 · Open to allThe first touch. Little players, big smiles — where Albertson soccer begins. Short, playful sessions built around the ball; no tryout, register any time.
002Intramurals
Boys & girls · Open to allRecreational play every week — skills, teamwork and the love of the game, organized by developmental level.
003Jr. Academy
The bridge to travelMore training, more touches, more game. For players who want to step up before the travel pathway starts at U8.
004Travel
U8–U19 · By tryoutCompetitive teams across Long Island. Every age group carries a Top Team plus second, third and fourth teams where numbers allow — a player is always placed where they will develop.
005Premier / EDP
By invitationPremier travel — the girls’ Fury program competes in EDP; top regional competition and the college-recruiting stage.
006MLS NEXT
Boys U13–U19 · Academy DivisionThe top of the pathway. Full-sided academy football in the MLS NEXT Academy Division. Albertson players have moved on to the NYCFC and NY Red Bulls academies.
Every player has a team.
Below U13 the top tier in each age group is the Top Team; at U13–U19 it is MLS NEXT. Beneath it sit a second team and, where numbers allow, third and fourth teams. Placement is a deliberate, player-centered decision made by the coaching staff — and every level is coached by professionals on the same periodized model.
Formats grow with the player: 4v4 and 7v7 in the foundation years, 9v9 at U11–U12, full-sided 11v11 from U13. Competition runs through NEAL, the North Atlantic / Tri-State league, EDP, LIJSL and — at the top — the MLS NEXT Academy Division.
Age groups follow the USSF season (Aug 1 – Jul 31). For 2026/27, U9/U10 are players born Aug 2016 – Jul 2018 and U11/U12 are born Aug 2014 – Jul 2016.
